“ Andie , I think I'm in love!” “ With who, Al?” “With him. He actually smiled at me!You know who he is... Don't you Andie?” “Nope.Who is he, then?” “He is Shay Finchley, silly. I've told you millions of times before.” My name is Andrea, but everyone calls me Andie, and everything sucks now. Ali, my best friend and twin sister is making us into completely different people .Her hair is at waist length now and is always getting us into trouble. She makes me put lipstick and mascara on whenever we go out, which is hardly ever as she is obsessed with making herself look pretty because this really popular boy smiled at her three months ago, and she has been obsessed ever since. She thinks she needs to be pretty and confident to get a popular boy, who didn't even know she existed until that life changing day. I feel like we are coming apart. She ditches me and makes a dumb excuse whenever we are planning to go to a party I end up having to go alone. The only time she does go to a party is when she hears that Shay Finchley is going to the party and ditches me when we get there ,going on a search for him. We go on shopping trips together every once and a while, but I hate them because she's always asking whether Shay will like what she wears or not. Thank goodness she didn't make me change my hair because that would make me hate her a plethora of the time. Then one day she really blew it. She tried to cut my hair while I was sleeping ,and she locked our bedroom door ,knowing I would be coming up to get changed for an all girls party. In the end I got a pencil and a piece of paper, poked the pencil through the key hole, then pulled the key out with the paper. Like an angry maniac, I stomped into the room ,grabbed my clothes, my hairbrush, and my love chain, and stormed out to the bathroom. I looked ok, I guess ,but I know I would look better if I had a smile on my face. Then, I got the perfect idea, and managed to smile through the night because of the idea. When I got home after the party,I set myself to the task of making my own party invitations, as it was our birthday in two weeks time. I would invite Shay, but not give him the invitation ,then Ali will realise what she has been missing out on. I invited her to come to a shopping trip, but she said no and just sat there, looking at the picture of Shay in the school year book, as if he would smile at her at any minute. So I decided to go and get us some new party clothes myself. Ali seemed a bit bummed out at the idea of the party, but as soon as I mentioned Shay's name she bounced at the idea like a charm, as I thought it would, saying she needed some new party clothes and new jewellery and new make up, which had already been done when I went on the shopping trip. She thanked me about a million times, with relief in her eyes, and a grin came upon my face, thankful that my plan was running smoothly. When it came to the day of the party, I felt incredibly guilty, wishing I had given the invite to Shay, because she is so excited, her eyes glimmering, I have to break the news to her. “Al, I've got some bad news, some really bad news.” “Andie, I don't care as long as Shay is coming, so go on, what is it?” “It...It's Shay. He called and said he wasn't feeling well he said he can't come.” “What? Stop playing around, Andie, you said he was coming...” “I'm sorry.Al, it was a last minute cancel....But we can still enjoy the party, right?” “NO!NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!HE HAS TO COME.HE CAN'T CANCEL!!!IF HE CANCELS,WE CANCEL!!!” “But we can't cancel! Everyone is already downstairs, we can't tell them to go home!” “YES!WE CAN! Just go away and leave me alone. It's your party too...” I couldn't bear see the tears in her eyes, the spark from her all gone. Even so,I decide to go downstairs and tell everyone the rest of my plan. Even though it doesn't look like it, my plan is supposed to go like this. I lead everyone upstairs and tell them to keep quiet .I knock on our bedroom door. Nothing. My heart leaps as I think of the things she could of done in five minutes. I try to budge the door. It's not locked. Ali is just sitting there, sniffing, looking at Shay's picture in the school year book again. Now's my chance. I get everyone to shout: “TURN AROUND!!!” Ali is so startled by the loud noise that she falls off her bed. At first she looks quite annoyed but then a grin spreads across her face, a grin I hadn't seen in a long time. I knew she was back to her normal self then and there, and we have agreed that we don't need boyfriends, and all we need is each other. Who needs one smile when you have so many more. What is the moral of this story?
